Each year, Gamer Grace will have a particular topic to center our paneling and events around to promote awareness and encourage discussion in the greater community:
For our initial year, we are focusing our efforts on games access for individuals with physical and mental disabilities. There are many people who are unable to enjoy video gaming to the full extent of others due to choices in hardware and software design. Below are some references for further information on the topic:.
- Includification: Guidelines and tips for designing games to be more inclusive from The AbleGamers Charity
- The IGDA Game Accessibility Special Interest Group: A group for developers interested in and working for games accessibility
- Why Game Accessibility Matters: An article published on Polygon about developers implementing accessibility practices in their works
There will be a wide range of tournaments for all ages. Check out our full tournament listings here!

MISA ON WHEELS
Cosplayer • Gamer
Misa on Wheels is a cosplayer based out of New England. She started cosplaying at conventions about six years ago and found her passion, as well as her most amazing experiences, through this wonderful community. She got her well-known nickname from a dear friend she met in Artist Alley at her first con: “Misa” being the female lead in the anime Death Note, who was her first and most beloved cosplay, and “on Wheels” being her primary method of travel. Misa was born with a form of Muscular Dystrophy, called Charcot-Marie Tooth disease, or CMT for short. The condition made the nerves in her lower arms and lower legs extremely weak causing her to start using a wheelchair at age 10.
Misa can be found in a great many places on the web, but she calls the Facebook page Misa On Wheels home. She started the page a couple years back as a place to share photos, convention stories, and her thoughts on cosplay. It has since become the stage for her message, “Cosplay is for Everyone.”
Her favorite games include Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Spyro, and Fallout.
The Able Gamers Charity
With a combination of technologies such as mouth controllers, eye gaze, and special customized controllers, The Able Gamers Charity finds a way for people to play video games no matter their disability. When their accessibility experts give assessments to determine the right set of equipment for each individual, they’re using the latest, bleeding edge technology to bridge the gap between ability and desire.
Jeremy “Blue” Guerrette
Gamer, Youtuber, Production Manager ‘Terraria’ (2011) Blue is known for his time as Production and Community Manager for 'Terraria' back in 2011 during its release. Blue is attending the convention to speak about his experiences with online bullying and personal internet safety while working in the indie game design community.
